I used to be goth, could still be considered Goth, and even I find that hilarious! Alot of em are like that.. Being Goth doesn't mean being everyone else.. It's more a state of mind.. It's basically liking what you like, regardless of whether it is in the light or dark spectrum, and respecting others opinions, but not telling them they're wrong.

My wife has a cousin in the UK that is in a phase "all about goth".

Funny how she did it just so should could continue to hang around her friends, and they only did it as it seemed everyone else was as well.
